Cost of Belviq

If you are a bit overweight or obese, you might want to know more about the new weight loss medications that have been FDA approved in the last 2 years.

The first and the most important one is Qsymia, not Belviq, as Qsymia has a higher success rate than Belviq. However, Belviq has better safety profile and is going to be a bit easier to tolerate.

What is the cost the new Weight Loss Drug Belviq or Lorcaserin?

Arena Pharmaceuticals’ highly anticipated weight-loss drug, Belviq, will go on sale on Tuesday, the San Diego company announced today.

Arena’s marketing partner, the Japanese pharmaceutical company Eisai, will actually sell the drug, which received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration nearly a year ago.

Arena says it will use the revenue to develop more drugs in its pipeline. Belviq is Arena’s first product to reach the market, a crucial milestone for a biotech company.

Belviq is to be used along with diet and exercise under a doctor’s guidance. The drug suppresses appetite in a way similar to the neurotransmitter serotonin, but more selectively. That selectivity makes Belviq safer than existing drugs, says Arena co-founders Jack Lief, chief executive, and Dominic Behan, executive vice president and chief scientific officer.

W8MD offers Belviq, Qsymia, Phentermine and Topiramate generic and other FDA approved weight loss medications along with 800 to 1200 calorie low calorie diets for fast and effective physician supervised weight loss in its offices in many states.

The best news is that most W8MD weight loss centers accept health insurances for the physician visits so you do not have to pay out of pocket.

You would need to speak with your insurance on this – they will cover the weight loss visits and if they do not cover the medication, we do have a coupon that can reduce the cost to about $75.00 per month. Thanks

Medicare excludes coverage for weight loss medications and unfortunately, you will not qaulify for the coupon for discount from the manufacturer so you will have to pay the full price. However, one work around I have heard people do is this – if you go to a different pharmacy, say you pay out of pocket, answer questions accordingly when activating the card, then you will most likely get the same price as any other cash paying patients and be able to use the discount card. You still need a valid prescription from a licensed physician for Belviq. However, I am not recommending this for obvious reasons although many do it this way and get the discount. Thanks
