If you are overweight or obese, and need some help losing unwanted pounds Belviq is an option worth exploring. Now that Belviq has recently been proven in a large cardiovascular study that Belviq does not harm the heart while helping you lose weight, it is an option to seriously consider.
What is Belviq and how can it help?
Lorcaserin, marketed as Belviq, is a new weight loss medication that was FDA approved in 2012 although it was only available on the market almost a year later in June of 2013. Belviq (Lorcaserin) is used to help adults who are obese or who are overweight and have weight-related medical problems to lose weight and keep from gaining back that weight.
Belviq (Lorcaserin) must be used along with a reduced calorie diet and an exercise plan. Belviq (Lorcaserin) is in a class of medications called serotonin receptor agonists. It works by increasing feelings of fullness so that less food is eaten.
Belviq or Belviq XR – which one is better?
The two dosage forms Belviq and Belviq XR are proven to be dosage equivalent and cost the same, so most people prefer to Belviq XR 20 mg once a day as opposed to Belviq 10 mg twice daily. Since both dosage forms are considered equivalent, it is up to you which one you take.
